
New Delhi, 23 February (HS): The three-day World Urdu Conference organized by National Urdu Language Development Council (NCPUL) at India International Center under the title ‘Vision of Developed India, Urdu Language Mission’ concluded on Sunday. Special guest of the closing ceremony Prof. Ghazanfar said in his speech that this conference was very successful in every respect and from the inaugural program to the last session, very valuable things came to the fore regarding the all-round development of Urdu language.
He said that it is necessary that we take practical steps on what eminent intellectuals of the country and abroad have said in various meetings of this conference for improvement in Urdu education, preservation of Urdu script and overall development.
He said that along with the daily technical sessions, dance and music, mushaira and mehfil-e-qawwali were also a distinctive feature of this conference which highlighted the bright and glorious cultural aspects of the Urdu language. Professor Ghazanfar compared Urdu to a rose and said that this language beautifully reflects the cultural diversity of India.
Director of the Council Dr. Shams Equbal expressed his views and said that looking at the historical stages of Urdu language, it is known that Urdu is a flexible and acceptable language, it has always kept in mind the national social and cultural needs and has not hesitated to accept scientific thinking. He further said that Urdu will have to adapt to the new trends and our intellectuals will have to be ready to meet the national needs. Shams Iqbal said that we do not need to worry too much about our language, the present of Urdu is also pleasant and the future is also full of possibilities.
Dr. Equbal said that in the present times it is necessary to translate the literature of different languages of India into Urdu and to translate good Urdu literature into other languages so that the gap between Indian languages can be reduced.
In the end, Dr.Shams Equbal thanked all the national and international guests who attended the conference, his colleagues, the Ministry of Education, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the full support of the government at every step in organizing this conference.
Earlier at 10 am, the fifth technical session of the conference was held under the title ‘Reflection of social, cultural and political values in Urdu works’ in which Prof. Mohammad Zaman Azurda and Prof. Aftab Ahmed Afaqui read research papers. Those who participated in the discussion were Prof. Mushtaq Alam Qadri, Dr. Abdullah Imtiaz Ahmed, Dr. Suraj Dev Singh, Dr. Nazia Begum Jafo Khan and Dr. Balmiki Ram while the session was chaired by Prof. Ejaz Ali Arshad and Prof. Muzaffar Ali Shahmiri. The speeches and papers of this meeting highlighted the specialty of Urdu literature that it not only has a mixture of words and moods of Indian languages, but also the reflection of Indian civilization and culture is most in this language. This session was conducted by Dr. Saqib Faridi.
The sixth technical session was held under the title ‘Use of Artificial Intelligence for the promotion and publication of Urdu’. Prof. Rehmat Yusufzai and Dr. Parvez Ahmed presented their research papers in it. Dr. Shamim Ahmed and Ahmed Ashfaq participated in the discussion. The session was chaired by Prof. Ejaz Ahmed Sheikh and Prof. Mohammad Jahangir Warsi. The participants of this session reviewed various platforms of machine translation and AI and emphasized on making Urdu compatible with modern technology. This session was conducted by Dr. Abdul Hai.
The seventh and final session was titled ‘Strengthening seamless communication among the Indian diaspora’, in which Dr. Saqib Haruni and Dr. Nilofar Khojaiva presented research papers, while the panelists were Dr. Qasim Khurshid, Dr. Sirajuddin Noor Matuf and Dr. Ahsan Ayubi. This session was chaired by Prof. Hasnain Akhtar and Dr. Mohaiya Abdul Rahman. The responsibility of conducting this session was taken by Nayab Hasan. After this
‘Sham-e-Sufiyana’ was organized at India Islamic Cultural Center at 6 pm, in which Nizami brothers entertained the audience with their Qawwali. Nihaan Rubab and Faizanul Haque took the responsibility of introducing this cultural program.
