US deports hundreds of Venezuelans despite court order

The United States has sent these people to El Salvador.

Washington, March 17 (HS): The Trump administration in the United States disregarded a court order and deported hundreds of members of a Venezuela gang by plane to El Salvador. A federal judge in Washington had temporarily halted the administration’s deportation process just before 7 PM on Saturday. The following day, Sunday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that hundreds of Venezuelans had been sent from the U.S. to El Salvador on the grounds of being gang members.

According to reports from The New York Times and CNN, despite the court’s ruling, the Trump administration invoked the powers of the Foreign Enemies Act in this case. This law is known for its role in the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II.

The Venezuelan government stated in a statement yesterday that the attempt to enforce the act is a crime once again. CNN’s report clarified that the Trump administration used wartime powers to speed up deportations despite the court’s ruling. This represents the latest dramatic confrontation between the White House and the judiciary. The federal judge had temporarily blocked the administration’s ability to utilize the centuries-old Foreign Enemies Act on Saturday evening. Judge James Bosburg orally ordered that any plane carrying some of those migrants should return to the U.S.

During the hearing, Judge James Bosburg stated, Considering the information provided by the plaintiffs, which the government has not disputed, that flights are actively departing and planning to depart, I don’t think I can wait any longer. White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated on Sunday that the Trump administration did not violate the judge’s order since it was issued after those migrants had left the United States. There was no legal basis for the court’s order.

They stated that a judge from one city cannot direct the activities of an aircraft carrier filled with physically expelled foreign terrorists from American soil. Levitt mentioned that under the president’s orders, the Department of Homeland Security arrested nearly 300 members of Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua gang over the weekend. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed gratitude to El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele for offering to detain the exiles.

Bukele announced on Sunday morning that the alleged Tren de Aragua members had arrived in El Salvador. They have been transferred to the Counter-Terrorism Center or CECOT for a one-year period. His post included a video showing some individuals being handcuffed and taken off buses, as well as having their heads shaved. On Truth Social, Trump thanked the Salvadoran leader for accepting the exiles.
