New Delhi, September 5 (HS): India’s Yuki Bhambri scripted history by reaching the men’s doubles semifinals of the US Open 2025, marking the finest performance of his Grand Slam career so far. However, his remarkable journey came to an end at the final-four stage.

The 33-year-old Delhi player, partnering with New Zealand’s Michael Venus, fought valiantly before going down to the sixth-seeded British duo of Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury, 7-6(2), 6-7(5), 4-6.

With this achievement, Bhambri became only the fourth Indian man in the Open Era to reach a Grand Slam doubles semifinal, joining the elite company of Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, and Rohan Bopanna.

The Indo-Kiwi pair impressed throughout the tournament, producing a series of upsets. In the quarterfinals, they stunned the fourth-seeded German team of Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz, and earlier toppled the 11th seeds Rajeev Ram and Nikola Mektić.

Reflecting on his campaign, Bhambri said, “This has been a very special week for me. Competing at this level and reaching the semifinals of a Grand Slam is a defining moment in my career.”

After a decade overshadowed by persistent injuries, Bhambri’s run in New York represents a new chapter in the second phase of his career, giving him a crucial rankings boost and renewed confidence for the remainder of the season.
