
Washington, 1 May (H.S.): United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday, emphasizing US support for counter-terrorism cooperation with India.
He encouraged both countries to de-escalate tensions, urging Pakistan to assist in investigating the recent Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. During his call with Jaishankar, Rubio expressed condolences for the victims and reaffirmed US commitment to India’s fight against terrorism.
In his conversation with Sharif, he condemned the April 22 attack, urging Pakistan to cooperate in the investigation and engage with India to restore communication and maintain peace in South Asia. Both leaders reaffirmed their dedication to holding terrorists accountable for their violent acts, emphasizing the need for stability in the region.
