Vani faces tough challenge as Sneha tee up at fifth leg of Hero WPGT

Gurugram, March 4 (HS): In the fifth stage of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour (WPGT), experienced Vani Kapoor will try to maintain her excellent form. Vani had registered a thrilling victory in the fourth leg last month and now she will try to win another title in this tournament to be held at Classic Golf and Country Club.

A total of 38 players are participating in this tournament, including 5 amateur golfers.

The total prize money of the tournament has been kept at Rs 16 lakh.

This time Vani is likely to face a tough challenge from Sneha Singh, who is at the top of the Hero Order of Merit by winning two titles this season. Apart from this, Amandeep Drall, who is trying to establish herself in the Ladies European Tour (LET). Gaurika Bishnoi and Ridhima Dilwari will also be in the title race.

Sneha Singh and Ridhima Dilawari shot 66 and 67 in the final round of the last tournament to make it to the top three, indicating their excellent form.

Indian professional golfers have been going to play in South Africa, Australia, Europe and South-East Asia in recent years. Many Indian players have also made their presence felt in the Ladies European Tour (LET).

Many young players are also participating in this tournament, who have been successful in making their mark in recent years. These include Jasmine Shekhar, who won titles several times in 2024, and Anvita Narendra, who has tasted success.

Sneha Singh is currently at the top of the Hero Order of Merit, while Vaani Kapoor and Jasmine Shekhar remain right behind her.

The Classic Golf and Country Club has long been a regular venue for the WPGT. It is the first of two tournaments to be held in Gurugram this month. The sixth leg will be played at the DLF Golf and Country Club.
