Hampton, April 25 (H.S.): Aerobatic pilot Rob Holland died in a plane crash at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia on Thursday. He was set to participate in the airshow this weekend. His death has been confirmed on Rob Holland’s Instagram account.

According to Sources, a post on the Instagram account stated, Rob Holland was one of the most honored and inspiring aerobatic pilots in aviation history. He was a humble person. His sole goal was simply to be better than yesterday.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the accident occurred a little before Thursday afternoon. The single-seat experimental MX aircraft MXS crashed while Rob was attempting to land at the base. An investigation into the incident is underway. Holland was scheduled to participate in the Air Power Over Hampton Roads airshow taking place at the base on Saturday and Sunday.

According to Holland’s website, he was a 13-time U.S. National Aerobatic Champion. The show’s organizer, Jim Bourke, president of the International Aerobatic Club, stated in a statement, Rob will be remembered as a friend, a mentor, a leader, and an innovator. The grief of Rob’s family cannot be expressed in words.

Langley Air Force Base is located near the southwestern edge of Chesapeake Bay. This facility is home to a squadron of F-22 Raptor fighter jets. One of them shot down a Chinese spy balloon over the Atlantic in 2023.
