Weapons and explosives surrendered in Manipur on Governor's appeal

Imphal, 23 February (HS): Following the appeal of the Governor of Manipur, people in Churachandpur and Imphal East districts voluntarily surrendered arms and ammunition for the second consecutive day as part of the public awareness efforts carried out by the District Police, Assam Rifles and CRPF.

Police on Sunday said that a total of 16 arms and ammunition were surrendered in Churachandpur district which includes 01 M-16 rifle, 01 seven .62 mm SLR rifle, 02 AK-47 rifles, 03 INSAS rifles, 02 M-79 under barrel grenade launchers, 01 nine mm carbine machine gun, 01 fifty five mm mortar, 03 .303 rifles, 02 single barrel rifles, 64 gelatin sticks, 10 rounds 60 mm Pumpi (self-made mortar) ammunition, 17 rounds AK ammunition, 40 rounds 5.56 mm rifle ammunition and 03 rounds 9 mm caliber ammunition.

At the same time, 01 weapon and a large quantity of ammunition were surrendered in Imphal East district, which includes 01 CMC carbine with magazine, 06 two-inch mortar shells, 1200 rounds of 5.56×30 mm ammunition and 2200 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition.
