JERUSALEM ,October 14(HS): An emotional embrace between estranged Israeli twin brothers, Ziv and Gali Berman, captured the world’s attention after they were reunited following more than two years in Hamas captivity. The poignant moment, which quickly went viral, occurred after their release Monday under a broader Gaza ceasefire and hostage-exchange agreement.
The twins, both lighting technicians, were abducted from their home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza during the October 7 attack and were held for 738 days. Their release was part of a group of seven hostages handed over to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). A photograph of their reunion was shared by the Embassy of Israel in London with the caption, Gali and Ziv Berman, free and back home.
Upon their arrival at the Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan, the Berman brothers were met with applause and cheers from hundreds of Israeli citizens who had gathered to welcome them. The brothers smiled and waved, expressing gratitude for the public support.
The Israel Foreign Ministry celebrated the return of all seven freed hostages, stating, We’ve been waiting 738 days to say this – Welcome home Alon, Eitan, Guy, Ziv, Gali, Omri, and Matan!
