Mumbai, March 14(H.S.): In the Eliminator match of the Women’s Premier League 2025, the Mumbai Indians defeated the Gujarat Giants by 47 runs. With this victory, the Mumbai team secured a place in the final of the third season. The final match will see Mumbai Indians clash with Delhi Capitals.

In this match played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, Gujarat Giants won the toss and invited Mumbai to bat. Mumbai Indians, batting first, scored a total of 213 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. After Yastika Bhatia (15) was dismissed for 26 runs, Hayley Matthews (77) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (77) put together a huge partnership of 133 runs for the second wicket. Following them, Harmanpreet Kaur played a quick innings of 36 runs in 12 balls, hitting 2 fours and 4 sixes, which helped Mumbai set a daunting target of 214 runs for Gujarat.

For Gujarat Giants, Danley Gibson took two wickets, while Kashvi Gautam secured one wicket.

Chasing the massive target of 214 runs, Gujarat Giants did not start well. Opener Beth Mooney was out for just six runs in the very first over. Then Daniel Gibson gave it a try with a score of 34 runs. However, Harleen Deol (8 runs) and captain Ashley Gardner (8 runs) could not support him for long. In the end, Phoebe Litchfield scored 31 runs and Bharti Fulmali made 30 runs, attempting to get closer to the target, but it wasn’t enough. The entire Gujarat team was all out for 166 runs in 19.2 overs.

Mumbai Indians displayed excellent bowling performance. All-rounder Hayley Matthews took the most wickets, claiming 3. Additionally, Amelia Kerr took 2 wickets, while Shabnam Ismail and Nat Sciver-Brunt each took 1 wicket.
