Beijing, May 23 (H.S.): On Thursday, Chinese President Xi Jinping stated during a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron that China and France should work as reliable powers to maintain the international order, promote global development, and guide multilateral cooperation.
Xi urged the joint defense of the supremacy and status of the United Nations, the maintenance of international trade rules and the global economic order, and the adoption of true multilateralism. He reminded that during his visit to France in May 2024, both sides had decided to promote the spirit of China-France relations based on freedom, mutual understanding, strategic perspective, and win-win cooperation. Xi Jinping stated that this year marks the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II and the establishment of the United Nations. He emphasized that both countries (as permanent members of the UN Security Council) are the creators and guardians of the post-World War II international order. In this context, both countries should strengthen global unity and cooperation.
She said, As the international situation becomes more complex, it is increasingly necessary for China and France to adopt the right strategic options.
President Xi stated that China has always viewed Europe as an independent pole in a multipolar world and supports increasing the European Union’s strategic autonomy and a more active role in international affairs. He mentioned that China is ready to work with the European Union to face global challenges and deliver concrete results that benefit both sides and the entire world.
