New Delhi, May 5 (H.S.): The Delhi High Court has ordered the deployment of adequate police forces for the elections of the Shahdara Bar Association at the Karkardooma Court. The full bench of the High Court, headed by Justice Pratibha Singh, issued this order based on the report of retired High Court judge Justice Talwant Singh, appointed to conduct the elections of the Shahdara Bar Association.

The High Court stated that the entire election would be monitored via CCTV cameras. Immediate action should be taken if any attempt is made by lawyers or any other group to disrupt the elections. The High Court also mentioned that the live footage from the CCTV should be made available to the local DCP of Delhi Police so that any unforeseen situation can be managed.

Elections for the Bar Associations of all lower courts in Delhi, including the Delhi High Court, were held on March 21. The elections were canceled after severe disorder and scuffles over ballots and EVM machines at the Saket Court and Karkardooma Court on March 21. Subsequently, the High Court ordered the elections to be conducted at Saket Court and Karkardooma Court on May 9. The High Court appointed Justice Talwant Singh as the chairperson of the election committee to conduct the elections at the Karkardooma Court.

The High Court instructed the election committee that they are free to request EVMs from any public undertaking or Delhi University if necessary. The High Court permitted only one representative of each candidate to remain in the court premises on the day of the election.
