Manchester, New Hampshire September 1(HS): Rudy Giuliani, the 81-year-old former mayor of New York City and once known as America’s Mayor for his leadership during the 9/11 attacks, suffered significant injuries in a high-speed rear-end collision in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Saturday evening. Giuliani was a passenger in a rented Ford Bronco when it was struck from behind shortly after he had assisted a woman involved in a domestic violence incident by contacting police on her behalf.
Giuliani sustained a fractured thoracic vertebra, multiple lacerations, contusions, and injuries to his left arm and lower leg. Despite the severity, police confirmed that the injuries were non-life-threatening, and all involved were hospitalized. According to his security detail, Giuliani is in good spirits and recovering well.
The accident occurred on a highway when Giuliani’s vehicle was hit with high velocity, causing both vehicles to veer into the median and sustain heavy damage. Officials have identified the other driver, a 19-year-old woman, and investigations continue, though no charges have been filed.
Throughout his career, Giuliani has been a prominent figure in American politics, including an unsuccessful 2008 presidential bid, and later as a personal attorney to former President Donald Trump, notably involved in contentious post-2020 election efforts. This incident marks the latest chapter in Giuliani’s storied and sometimes controversial public life.
