New Delhi, September 15 (HS) : Global markets presented a mixed outlook on Monday, with Asian equities reflecting caution amid divergent signals from the United States and Europe. While Dow Jones futures edged higher in early trade, most major indices closed the previous session with limited gains or marginal losses, underscoring persistent investor uncertainty.

US Markets: Nasdaq Hits Record High Despite Broader CautionUS indices ended the last session on a mixed note: the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed nearly 300 points lower, while the broader S&P 500 slipped 0.05% to 6,584.29. In contrast, the Nasdaq Composite surged 0.44% to close at a record 22,141.10, buoyed by gains in technology stocks. Dow Jones futures, currently trading at 45,873.95, were up 0.09%, hinting at tentative optimism at the open.

European Indices: Flat Finish After Volatile SessionEuropean markets also closed flat after a choppy session. London’s FTSE 100 ended 0.15% lower at 9,283.29, while Frankfurt’s DAX dipped 0.02% to 23,698.15. Paris’s CAC 40, however, managed a slight gain of 0.02%, closing at 7,825.24.

Asia: Gains Outweigh Losses, But Sentiment Remains CautiousAsian markets traded with a mixed bias, with five out of nine major indices in positive territory and four posting losses.

-Taiwan Weighted Index: Slipped 0.29% to 25,401.58.

-Straits Times Index (Singapore): Fell 0.04% to 4,342.42.

-SET Composite (Thailand): Edged down 0.01% to 1,293.48.

On the upside:

-Japan’s Nikkei 225: Jumped 0.88% (395.62 points) to 44,768.12.

-Jakarta Composite: Rose 0.75% to 7,912.60.

-South Korea’s KOSPI: Gained 0.61% to 3,416.29.

-Hong Kong’s Hang Seng: Advanced 0.44% (116.84 points) to 26,505.

-Shanghai Composite: Added 0.22% to 3,879.29.

Market Sentiment

The overall mood across global equity markets remains tentative, with investors weighing economic data and central bank signals. While select Asian markets led gains, the broader trend reflects caution as traders await clearer direction from macroeconomic developments.
