Dubai, September 20 (HS): Arshdeep Singh etched his name in the record books on Friday during India’s Asia Cup 2025 clash against Oman, becoming the first Indian bowler to reach 100 wickets in T20 internationals. The left-arm pacer achieved the milestone in the 20th over of the match when he dismissed Vinayak Shukla.
Arshdeep, who made his T20I debut against England at Southampton in 2022 with impressive figures of 2/18, has been a consistent strike bowler for India. Before this match, he had claimed 99 wickets in 63 T20 internationals, with his career-best figures of 4/9 coming against the United States. Earlier this year, he overtook Jasprit Bumrah to become India’s leading wicket-taker in the format when he dismissed Ben Duckett and Phil Salt in a series against England.
Notably, Friday’s game marked Arshdeep’s first-ever appearance for India in the Asia Cup. Until now, India had primarily relied on Jasprit Bumrah as their frontline pacer in the continental tournament.
