RAWALPINDI, 23 October (H.S.): South Africa secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over Pakistan in the second Test on Thursday, drawing the two-match series 1-1.

The win was masterminded by a phenomenal performance from the spin duo of Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer, who dismantled the Pakistani batting lineup.Resuming on the fourth day at 94/4, Pakistan’s hopes rested on captain Babar Azam, who completed his half-century. However, his dismissal by Simon Harmer for 50 triggered a dramatic collapse.

Harmer was the chief destroyer, claiming a six-wicket haul in the innings and reaching a personal milestone of 1,000 first-class wickets with the dismissal of Noman Ali. The hosts were ultimately bundled out for just 138 runs. Maharaj and Harmer were exceptional throughout the match, with Maharaj taking a total of 9 wickets for 136 runs and Harmer finishing with 8 for 125.Chasing a modest target of 68, South Africa made light work of the task.

Aiden Markram provided a brisk start with an aggressive 42 before being dismissed. Ryan Rickelton remained unbeaten on 25, sealing the memorable victory with a decisive six.
