Australian cricketer Jack Edwards

SYDNEY, 24 October (H.S.): Cricket Australia announced a series of changes to its white-ball squads on Friday, with New South Wales all-rounder Jack Edwards receiving his first international call-up for the final One-Day International against India. The shake-up also sees the return of Glenn Maxwell from injury for the latter half of the T20 series and the inclusion of rising fast bowler Mahli Beardman in the T20 squad.

Marnus Labuschagne has been released from the squad ahead of the third ODI in Sydney to allow him to play for Queensland in the upcoming Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales.Several players will have limited availability during the five-match T20 series to manage workloads and accommodate domestic red-ball duties.

Josh Hazlewood is slated to play in only the first two T20s, while Sean Abbott will depart after the third match.Glenn Maxwell, who missed the initial T20s after fracturing his wrist during a training session in New Zealand last month, is set to return for the final three games of the series.

Fellow all-rounder Ben Dwarshuis will rejoin the team for the fourth and fifth T20s after recovering from a calf injury. In a move signaling an eye toward the future, 20-year-old paceman Mahli Beardman has been added to the T20 squad for the last three matches.

Beardman has been in impressive form for Western Australia, recently taking 12 wickets at an average of 17.75 in his four List A appearances.

Edwards’ selection comes on the back of his stellar performances for Australia A during their tour of India, where he scored an unbeaten 89 and took 4/56 in Kanpur. Matthew Kuhnemann has been recalled for the third ODI, while Josh Philippe has been added to the T20 squad as a backup wicketkeeper, with Josh Inglis still managing a calf complaint.
