Labour Union delegation meets Dr Jitendra, hails Modi Govt’s employee-friendly approach

Srinagar, Jan 06 (KINS): A delegation of labour unions representing major telecom units and postal pensioners’ organisations, affiliated with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), on Tuesday called on Union Minister In charge of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Dr Jitendra Singh, at the DoPT headquarters in Kartavya Bhavan. The delegation discussed a range of issues related to services, employment and pensions, while also appreciating what they described as the Modi government’s employee-friendly approach.

Members of the delegation said they were “highly appreciative of the government’s pro-employee policies” and used the interaction to present their views on various matters concerning serving employees as well as pensioners. The discussions, they noted, covered service conditions, employment-related concerns and pension issues, with a shared view that the government has generally remained receptive to such representations and that this consultative engagement should continue.

Representatives from the Bharatiya Doorsanchar Pensioners Sangh (BDPS), Bharatiya Postal Pensioners Sangh (BPPS) and other allied organisations participated in the meeting, highlighting issues affecting pensioners from the telecom and postal sectors. Emphasis was laid on the need for clarity in policies, timely flow of information and effective coordination between pensioners’ bodies and the concerned government departments.

Dr Jitendra Singh listened to the submissions and reiterated the importance of maintaining regular dialogue with stakeholder groups, particularly on matters impacting retirees. He observed that inputs from pensioners’ organisations are valuable for understanding ground-level concerns and for ensuring that administrative processes remain responsive and efficient.

The delegation also raised certain individual and organisational issues related to pension administration and sought continued attention to prevent avoidable difficulties for retirees. Participants described the meeting as constructive and forward-looking in nature.

The Minister said the interaction was part of an ongoing consultative process between the government and employee and pensioner organisations, and underscored the importance of sustained engagement on service and pension-related matters.

Those present at the meeting included Shri Hari Vinayak Sowani, All India General Secretary, Bharatiya Doorsanchar Pensioners Sangh; Shri Dharmaraj, former MTNL employee; Shri R.C.
