Encounter erupts between security forces and terrorists in Kathua’s Billawar area

Kathua, Jan 07 (KINS): An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in a remote village of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday evening, officials said.

The gunfight began at Kahog village in the Billawar area after security forces launched a search operation based on specific inputs about the presence of two to three terrorists in the region.

“SOG Kathua has engaged terrorists in the forest of Kamadh Nullah, Kathua,” Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti said in a post on X.

In another post IGP Jammu as per news agency Kashmir Indpeth News Service (KINS) said, “Despite darkness, thick vegetation and treacherous terrain, SOG relentlessly engaging the terrorists. Tea, of CRPF are also participating in the Joint Op”.

According to sources, at around 4 pm, locals spotted a terrorist in the Kamadh Nallah area falling under the jurisdiction of Billawar police station. The terrorist is suspected to be the same individual who was seen earlier in the day at Dhannu Parole.

Officials said additional reinforcements have been rushed to the area, and operations are underway to neutralize the terrorists.(KINS)
