Action against SDO if line loss exceeds 5%: UP Finance Minister

Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna in meeting of the District Electricity Committee

Shahjahanpur, 10 May (HS): During the meeting of the District

Electricity Committee, Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna took stock of the

electricity system in the district. The Finance Minister’s temper rose over the

irregularities and he expressed his displeasure and said that negligence will

not be tolerated.

During the meeting, the Finance Minister reviewed the electrical

works point by point. He obtained detailed information on the status of

sub-stations, capacity of power transformers, through rate, number of

consumers, AT&C losses, line losses and progress of RDMS scheme. He said that

if the lines are getting burnt in a short time in the areas where new lines

have been laid, then it is a clear indication of gross negligence and technical

fault of the department. He expressed displeasure while referring to the five

lines laid near Hakim Jagmohan’s house in Reti area. It is a very serious

matter that the lines which were laid recently, got burnt soon. This proves

that the department has got the work done without assessing the actual

capacity. He directed the Executive Engineer to get a new line of appropriate

capacity laid in the said area with immediate effect.

Action will be taken against SDO if line loss is more than 5%:

The Finance Minister said that if line loss is found to be more than 5% in any

section, then the responsibility of the concerned SDO will be fixed and strict

disciplinary action will be taken. He directed that power supply in urban and

rural areas should be given as per the prescribed hours. Responsible officers

will be held accountable for unnecessary power cuts. The contract of meter

readers sending wrong electricity bills should be terminated. Consumers should

not be unnecessarily harassed.

The MLAs present in the meeting also informed the Finance

Minister about the electricity related problems and complaints of their

respective areas. On which he directed the concerned officials to resolve the

complaints.
