Mumbai, 28 Apr (HS): All the files in the office of the Enforcement
Directorate (ED) are safe, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Following a fire that broke out at the ED office in Kersar
Hind building in Ballard Pier area of Mumbai, the opposition political leaders
started raising doubts over the government. Many of them alleged that the files relating
to some important cases were intentionally set on fire.
The fire broke out in the wee hours on Sunday. The
Fire Brigade brought the fire under control and reported that some papers were
burnt.
NCP (Sharad Pawar) MP Supriya Sule alleged that
firefighters reached very late after the fire. The ruling alliance should
clarify on the number of files burnt in the fire. NCP leader Jitendra Awhad
(SP) alleged conspiracy in the fire in the ED office.
Fadnavis said that he discussed the issue with ED
officers. All the documents with the ED are safe, including mirror imaging. No
proof relating to any case got destroyed in the fire.
