New Delhi, May 8 (H.S.): Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to inform him about the successful thwarting of missile attacks from Pakistan on Indian military establishments in the northern and western parts of the country. It was reported to PM Modi that for the first time, Pakistani missiles attempting to attack India were shot down using the powerful S-400 missile defence obtained from Russia.

Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. This crucial meeting took place just hours after the Indian Ministry of Defense announced that it had thwarted missile attacks from Pakistan on Indian military establishments in the northern and western parts of the country. The Army Chief arrived at the PM’s residence for the meeting and was informed that on the night of May 7-8, Pakistan attempted to attack several military locations in northern and western India, including Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nahl, Phalodi, Uttarli, and Bhuj with drones and missiles.

The Prime Minister was informed that India had successfully thwarted attempts to attack several cities in India by utilizing the Unmanned Aircraft System Grid (UAS Grid) and air defense systems. Debris from these attacks was recovered from multiple locations, serving as evidence of the Pakistani attacks. India shot down Pakistani missiles attempting to attack India using the powerful S-400 missile defense system. This morning, the Indian armed forces targeted various air defense radars and systems in Pakistan. India’s response has been as intense as that of Pakistan. During this period, the air defense system in Lahore has been neutralized.

The Ministry of Defense stated today that Pakistan has increased the intensity of its unprovoked firing along the Line of Control using mortars and heavy caliber artillery in the Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors. Due to Pakistani firing, 16 innocent lives have been lost, including 3 women and 5 children. India has been compelled to respond to halt mortar and artillery fire from Pakistan. The statement also reiterated that the Indian armed forces are committed to not escalating the conflict, provided the Pakistani army respects this.
