Delhi Court extends custody for Tahawwur Rana by 12 day

26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused Tahawwur Rana at the Patiala House Court in New Delhi on April 28

New Delhi, April 28 (HS) : Today, On April 28 Delhi court extended the NIA custody of 26/11 Mumbai attack accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana by 12 days, following the conclusion of his previous 18-day remand. Special NIA judge Chander Jit Singh granted the extension after the NIA requested it.

The case is being represented by senior advocate Dayan Krishnan and special public prosecutor Narender Mann for the NIA, while advocate Piyush Sachdeva from the Delhi Legal Services Authority represents Rana.

The court has mandated Rana’s medical examination every 24 hours and allowed lawyer meetings every alternate day, in the presence of NIA officials. The NIA argued that Rana’s custody was essential to uncover the conspiracy and that he needed to visit various locations related to the attack.

Rana, an associate of main conspirator David Headley, was extradited from the U.S. after a Supreme Court ruling.
