New Delhi, May 1 (H.S.): After the Delhi High Court’s reprimand, Baba Ramdev has assured that he will remove his controversial video related to the Rooh Afza case. Baba Ramdev informed the court that he would take down the video. Following this, Justice Amit Bansal’s bench ordered a hearing on the matter again tomorrow, i.e., May 2.

This morning, when the court was informed that Baba Ramdev had released a new video regarding Rooh Afza despite the court’s warning, the court ordered that contempt proceedings be initiated against him. The court stated that Baba Ramdev is not under any control and lives in his own world. The High Court stated that they would now issue a contempt notice against Baba Ramdev and that they are summoning him here. Later, when the hearing resumed in the afternoon, Rajeev Nayar, the lawyer presenting Baba Ramdev, said that the controversial video would be removed within 24 hours.

In fact, despite the High Court’s order not to make any statements regarding Rooh Afza, Baba Ramdev released a video making objectionable statements. The court mentioned that this is a case of contempt of court. On April 22, the court had stated that Baba Ramdev’s statements had shaken the court’s conscience and were inexcusable.

The Hamdard National Foundation India has filed a petition against Patanjali. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Hamdard, stated that Baba Ramdev had made statements harming the religion without any restraint against Hamdard. He mentioned that Baba Ramdev’s statements incite religious division and fall under hate speech, as well as defamation.

Rohatgi stated that the video released by Baba Ramdev should be removed immediately. Previously, Baba Ramdev had accused a company, Himalaya, of having a Muslim owner. The Supreme Court has previously reprimanded Baba Ramdev for making misleading statements and advertisements regarding allopathy. There is a need to deal with Baba Ramdev firmly. It is noteworthy that Baba Ramdev had claimed that the earnings from Rooh Afza would be used to build madrasas and mosques.
