
New Delhi, April 23 (H.S.): The Election Commission is conducting a 2-day training program for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at the India International Institute of Democracy & Election Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi, focusing on the election preparations for Bihar. This is the third batch, with 229 BLOs, 12 Election Returning Officers (EROs), and 2 Deputy Election Officers (DEOs) participating. The program commenced with an inauguration by Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi, who engaged with the participants following the opening remarks.
The training aims to equip BLOs with knowledge of their roles and responsibilities within the legal framework and enhance their skills in maintaining accurate electoral rolls, including proficiency in IT applications. In this first phase of training, 555 BLOs from Bihar, West Bengal, and Assam have already been trained.
Additionally, a concurrent training for State Police Nodal Officers (SPNOs) and police officers focuses on improving collaboration for effective electoral management, encompassing law and order and model code of conduct enforcement. Over 3000 participants from 141 countries have benefitted from IIIDEM’s programs, highlighting India’s global reputation in election management.
