England Clinches Third Women's Rugby World Cup with Convincing Win Over Canada

Twickenham, 28 September(H.S.): England delivered a dominant performance to defeat Canada 33-13 at Twickenham, securing their third Women’s Rugby World Cup title in front of a record crowd of 81,885. The Red Roses, overcoming their previous losses in two finals, showcased power in their scrum and relentless defense, extending their unbeaten run to 33 matches.

Canada struck first with two tries by Asia Hogan-Rochester, but England quickly responded with a solo try from Ellie Kildunne and strong forward plays resulting in tries from Amy Cokayne and Alex Matthews. Abbie Ward and Matthews added further tries in the second half to seal the victory.

Canada, coming off a stellar tournament defeating New Zealand in the semifinals, fought hard but could not breach England’s defense in key moments. England’s coach John Mitchell, renowned for his winning mindset, said the team peaked at the right time to claim the coveted title, their first since 2014.

The triumph marked a landmark moment for women’s sport in England, following the Lionesses’ Euro 2025 football championship earlier in the year, reflecting growing success and support for women’s athletics nationwide.
