
Kathmandu, 12 October (H.S.): Another police complaint was filed on Sunday against Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah and Hami Nepal founder Sudan Gurung, accusing them of inciting unrest in Nepal. The complaint, lodged by the Nepal Student Union, a sister organization of the Nepali Congress party, alleges that the two orchestrated riots on September 8 and 9, leading to vandalism, arson, and attempted assassination of political leaders.
The police complaint accuses Shah and Gurung of instigating the protests and involving school students in the movement. The filing alleges that this incitement led to shootings in which 76 students lost their lives. The FIR also charges them with engaging in criminal activities by using students as human shields. The complaint states that Mayor Shah and Gurung played a principal role in acts of arson and vandalism against national heritage sites as well as public and private properties.
The complaint was submitted to the District Police in Lalitpur on Sunday by Nepal Student Union representatives Manish Jung Thapa, Ashok Singh Bisht, and Vijay Shah.This is the latest in a series of legal actions against the two leaders. Previously, a student organization affiliated with the CPN-UML had also filed a similar complaint at the District Police Complex in Kathmandu.
To date, complaints have been registered against Shah and Gurung in seven different districts across the country.
