High alert in Amravati following a phone call from Pakistan

Amravati, 10 May (HS): Nandgaonpeth in Amravati

district, known for iots huge textile park, was rattled following a bomb threat

received by an employee of Dove Heritage Garment Company from Pakistan. The employee, a native of Odisha, received a

WhatsApp call from Pakistan (Code +92) saying that four important places in

Delhi will be blown up soon. The caller identified himself as a Pakistani military

officer.

The employee Prashant Panchanan Thakur (30) from

Balangi, Odisha, handed over the phone to his friend. The caller started giving

irrelevant replies when confronted. Prashant Then received four miscalls from

the same number. Under tremendous fear, Prashant informed the police on number 112 for help. Senior police officers

started searching for the source of the phone call on listening to a recording of

the call. Maharashtra’s Home Ministry was also informed about the incident.

A high alert was issued by the Amravati police.

Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddi has appealed to the people not to

respond to phone calls received with +92 code, and refraion from reacting to

rumours.
