New Delhi, May 01 (H.S.): Amid rising tensions with Pakistan following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India took a significant step on Wednesday by issuing a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM).
Under this NOTAM, India has announced the immediate closure of its airspace to all civil and military aircraft registered in Pakistan, operated by Pakistan, or leased from Pakistan. No Pakistani aircraft will be permitted to enter Indian airspace from April 30 until May 23, 2025. The government clarified that this restriction will remain in effect until further review and may be adjusted based on circumstances.
A senior official from the Ministry of Civil Aviation has stated that this decision has been made with utmost priority given to security and sovereignty interests. Relevant international civil aviation agencies and airports have also been informed of this decision.
India’s move will have a direct impact on Pakistan’s commercial and military flights. This decision is regarded as a strong message from India, making it clear that any provocation will be met with a firm response. Continuous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) and activities across the border in recent days have further complicated the situation.
