
New Delhi, May 10 (HS): India and Pakistan have agreed to immediately cease all types of military actions along the border. This information was provided by India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri at a press conference on Saturday. Misri stated that the DGMO of Pakistan called the Indian DGMO at 3:35 PM today to discuss a ceasefire between the two countries. During the conversation, it was agreed that firing and military action on land, sea, and air fronts would be completely halted starting at 5 PM this evening. Both sides have also instructed their respective military officials to implement this agreement. The Foreign Secretary mentioned that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan will hold further talks at 12 PM on May 12, to assess the situation moving forward. This agreement is being considered a significant step towards regional peace.
Notably, prior to the Foreign Secretary’s statement, U.S. President Donald Trump and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also made statements related to the ceasefire. The U.S. President remarked that after ongoing talks mediated by the U.S., both countries have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire. Trump noted that this agreement was made possible after a long night of negotiations.
