Delhi, 12 October (H.S.): India has enforced the follow-on against West Indies after bowling the visitors out for 248 in their first innings on day three of the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Responding to India’s massive first-innings total of 518/5 declared, the West Indies fell short of the follow-on target by 71 runs, still trailing by 270.Resuming on Sunday at their overnight score of 140 for four, the West Indies’ batting lineup quickly crumbled.

Spinner Kuldeep Yadav was the chief architect of the collapse, starting with the key wicket of Shai Hope, who was clean bowled for 36. Kuldeep continued his masterclass by trapping Tevin Imlach (21) lbw and later dismissing Justin Greaves for 17.

Mohammed Siraj contributed by bowling Jomel Warrican for just one run, leaving the tourists reeling at 175/8.After the lunch break, Jasprit Bumrah removed Khary Pierre for 23. Kuldeep Yadav then wrapped up the innings by dismissing Jayden Seales, securing a five-wicket haul and ending the West Indies’ resistance at 248.

Earlier in the match, India had declared their first innings after posting a commanding 518 for five. The innings was built on an outstanding 175 from Yashasvi Jaiswal and a tenth Test century from captain Shubman Gill, who remained unbeaten on 129.

Significant contributions also came from Sai Sudharsan (87), Dhruv Jurel (44), Nitish Kumar Reddy (43), and KL Rahul (38). For the West Indies, Jomel Warrican was the most successful bowler with three wickets.India currently leads the two-match series 1-0.
