New Delhi, May 8 (HS): The ‘Fit India Cycling Rally’ organized under the Fit India Movement will take place on May 9, 2025, in Chennai. This rally will be led by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. The rally will start at 6:30 AM from the historic War Memorial and will conclude at the same location.

The cycling route will pass through the city’s landmarks, including prominent sites like Napier Bridge and Marina Beach. This route will provide participants with the experience of Chennai’s beautiful coastal areas.

Before the rally begins, a Zumba and Yoga session will be held at Island Grounds, located in front of the War Memorial, starting at 6:00 AM, serving as an energizing warm-up for the participants.

The rally will be officially flagged off by former Olympian and captain of the Indian hockey team that won the Olympic gold medal in 1980, V. Bhaskaran. He will be joined by the only Indian squash player to win two gold medals in a single edition of the Asian Games, Harinder Pal Sandhu.

Participants from the Sports Authority of India (SAI), athletes from the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority, and cycling enthusiasts from Chennai will take part eagerly in this event.

This is another significant step towards raising awareness about fitness and health among people across the country under the ‘Fit India Movement.’ Similar to events like ‘Sunday on Cycle,’ this Chennai version will be a vibrant event symbolizing health, celebration, and community spirit.
