Melbourne, October 7(HS): Australia’s pace spearhead Mitchell Starc has been recalled to the national side for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India, set to begin in Perth on October 19. The selection marks Starc’s first appearance of the season after he opted out of the South Africa tour earlier this year to manage his workload ahead of the Ashes.
The 15-member squad also sees the return of Matthew Short and Mitchell Owen, both recovering from injuries, while Matthew Renshaw has earned a call-up as well. Mitchell Marsh will continue to lead the side in both the ODI series and the subsequent T20 leg.
Cricket Australia has simultaneously announced the squad for the first two matches of the five-game T20I series against India, scheduled from October 29 to November 8, as part of preparations for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Notably, Starc, who retired from T20 internationals earlier this year, will only feature in the ODI series. Among those omitted from the previous ODI tour of South Africa are Marnus Labuschagne, Sean Abbott, Aaron Hardie, and Matthew Kuhnemann.
