Modi government created new global identity for India: Sonowal

Dibrugarh (Assam), 29 April (HS): Addressing an election rally at Ghani Phukanbari playground in Tengakhat, Assam, in view of the upcoming panchayat elections on May 2, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, For 55 years, Congress kept India entangled in slogans only, but since 2014, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has created a new identity in the world.

He said that for years, Congress misled the public in the name of food, clothing and housing. There was corruption in many schemes including Indira Awas Yojana and incomplete houses were left. Sonowal said, While being the Chief Minister, I got these houses rebuilt under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

In the rally, he campaigned for four Zilla Parishads, 16 regional panchayats and 160 ward member candidates of the BJP-AGP alliance. He claimed that the BJP’s central and state government built 14 crore toilets in a transparent manner, freed the poor from the smoke of stoves by giving gas cylinders under the Ujjwala Yojana and connected villages and tea gardens with paved roads under the PM Gram Sadak Yojana.

He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, schemes are being successfully implemented across the state, which are also benefiting the people of Duliajan assembly constituency.

Many dignitaries including Duliajan MLA Teras Goala, Rajya Sabha MP Rameshwar Teli, AGP Central Vice President Putul Sonowal, BJP Dibrugarh District President Dulal Bora, Vice President Sudarshan Basumatary, Assam Housing Board Chairman Subhash Dutta, AGP District President Aditya Goswami, Samasti Samiti President Tultul Hussain, BJP Tea Cell President Rajen Kumar, Tengakhat Mandal President Deepak Sonowal, Duliajan Mandal President Hemraj Sharma, Assam Petro Chemicals Limited Chairman Bikul Deka and Assam Gas Company Vice President Indra Gogoi were present in the meeting.
