Bhubaneswar, 26 April (H.S.) The Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar has issued a directive to a Pakistani national residing in the city since 2008, asking her to leave following the expiration of her long-term visa earlier this year.
According to official sources, the woman, who is married to a local resident employed as an air conditioner technician, had a valid visa until February 2024. She has reportedly applied for an extension, which is currently under process.
The action comes amid stricter enforcement of visa regulations for Pakistani nationals in the aftermath of the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack. Authorities have intensified checks to ensure that all foreign nationals comply with the terms of their stay in India.
As part of a broader government initiative, at least 12 Pakistani nationals living in Odisha on long-term visas have been asked to prepare for departure. These individuals, many of whom have been residing in the state for several years, will be issued formal exit notices in accordance with official guidelines.
Police officials have reiterated that all foreign residents must strictly adhere to visa norms and that any lapses will be dealt with in line with existing immigration laws.
