Moscow, April 27 (HS): Russia’s FSB detained Ignat Kuzin, a suspect in the car bombing that killed Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik outside Moscow, which Moscow claims was orchestrated by Ukraine.
Moskalik, deputy head of the military’s General Staff, died in a blast caused by a homemade explosive device planted in a Volkswagen Golf in Balashikha.
The FSB stated Kuzin, a Ukrainian resident born in 1983, rigged the vehicle with explosives sourced from a Ukrainian secret service stash and detonated it remotely.
Police confirmed the explosion stemmed from an improvised device and initiated a murder investigation alongside an inquiry into illegal explosives trafficking. Initial reports mistakenly attributed the explosion to a gas leak as security footage revealed the impactful blast near an apartment block.
