New York, United States, October 7(HS): Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, sentenced last week to over four years in federal prison, has requested to serve his term at a low-level facility in New Jersey. His lawyers urged Judge Arun Subramanian on Monday to strongly recommend placement at FCI Fort Dix, citing the prison’s comprehensive drug treatment program as essential for Combs’ rehabilitation and family visitation.
Currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024, Combs faces a four-year, two-month sentence on charges related to transporting people across state lines for sexual encounters under the federal Mann Act. His defense highlights Fort Dix’s specialized programs as vital to addressing his substance abuse issues and fostering rehabilitation efforts.
FCI Fort Dix, the largest federal prison by population in the US, has housed notable inmates over the years and offers programs geared towards inmates’ reintegration. The decision, while recommended by the presiding judge, ultimately rests with the Bureau of Prisons, who consider factors such as security needs and offender profiles in their placements.
The case, marked by dramatic testimony involving violence and drugs, exposed a darker side of the entertainer’s private life but ended with acquittals on more severe racketeering and sex trafficking charges. Combs’ legal team and the public await the Bureau’s final decision on his incarceration facility.
