This was the 17th day of a combing effort at the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border. Reports indicate that Maoists ambushed the police patrol using powerful landmines and heavy gunfire. The banned CPI (Maoist) group has warned locals to avoid the area due to IEDs planted in the vicinity.
The attack took place early in the morning after the patrol team, comprised of Mulugu police and Greyhounds units, began their search for explosives. Tragically, three Greyhounds commandos—Vadla Sridhar, N. Pavan Kalyan, and T. Sandeep—sustained injuries and succumbed to their wounds. Additionally, another commando, Ch. Ranadheer, was injured but is in stable condition and being transported to Hyderabad for advanced care. The bodies of the fallen commandos have been returned to Warangal for funeral honors, attended by Minister Ms Dhanasari Anasuya Seethakka, DGP Dr. Jitender, IPS, and various officials attended a memorial to honor the martyred Commandos, including ADG Greyhounds M. Stephen Raveendra, MLAs, and the GWMC Mayor.
A case has been filed against the Maoists under multiple legal sections, including the Arms Act and the UAP Act, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the culprits. Efforts to capture the responsible Maoist cadres are underway.
