
Hapur, 10 May (HS): Two suspected cow smugglers were caught
during an interaction with police here on Saturday, according to authorities. Police
claimed they discovered a cow, one and a half quintals of beef, two firearms,
ammo, a motorbike, and cow slaughter equipment.
Police said they had information of cow slaughter in the
Bagdpur-Gamdi forest. Following that,
they arrived at their destination. When the accused saw them, they attempted to
leave and opened fire on the police squad. In reaction, police shot and injured
two of the suspects, while the others fled, according to Neeraj Kumar, SHO of
Garhmukteshwar Police Station.
The accused were admitted to the hospital. According to Circle
Officer Garhmukteshwar Varun Mishra, the injured suspects have been identified
as Salman, a Meerut resident, and Imran, a Shahjahanpur resident. They recently
acknowledged to slaughtering cows in the same location. He stated that further
inquiry is underway.
