UN chief calls for military restraint from India, Pakistan

Manhattan, May 7 (H.S.): Following India’s targeting of nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK today, the UN Secretary-General has expressed deep concern over the escalating military tensions. A spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated today, “The Secretary-General is deeply concerned about Indian military actions across the Line of Control and the international border. He appeals to both countries to exercise maximum military restraint. The world cannot take the risk of any military confrontation between India and Pakistan.

The Secretary-General had also responded to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam two days ago, stating that targeting civilians is unacceptable under any circumstances and that it is essential to bring the perpetrators to justice. He expressed understanding for the emotions following the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, condemning the attack and extending condolences to the victim’s families.
