University of Kashmir secures Rs 8.5 crore ANRF research grants
Srinagar Dec 30 (KINS): The University of Kashmir (KU) has achieved a major milestone by securing Rs 8.5 crore in prestigious research grants under the Advanced Research Grant (ARG) Scheme of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), DST, Government of India.
The funded projects span Biological, Medical and Earth Sciences, strengthening cutting-edge research in areas such as climate change and permafrost studies, cancer biology, ecosystem restoration, cold-resistant high-yield maize, microbiology, and genomics.
Research proposals according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) led by Prof. Ghulam Jeelani, Prof. Anzar Khuroo, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Dar, Prof. Rabia Hamid, Prof. Fouzia Rashid, Dr. Irfan Rashid, Dr. Rifat, and Dr. Gulzar Ahmad were selected through a rigorous national evaluation process.
The grants will also enable the procurement of state-of-the-art scientific equipment, including GPR, UAVs, growth chambers, weather stations, and advanced laboratory systems, significantly enhancing KU’s research infrastructure.
Congratulating the awardees, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan said the achievement reflects KU’s growing national standing in research excellence, while Dean Research Prof. Mohammad Sultan Bhat noted that the grants will further strengthen high-impact and interdisciplinary research at the University.
