
Kolkata, 7 May (H.S.): The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) announced the results of the Higher Secondary (Class 12) Examinations 2025 on Tuesday, marking one of the most successful result years in recent times. According to Council officials, publishing the results within just 50 days of the exam’s conclusion is a significant achievement.
This year, a total of 4,73,919 students from the regular category appeared for the examination, out of which 4,30,286 candidates passed, bringing the overall pass percentage to 90.79%, an improvement over last year’s 90%. The pass rate for boys stood at 92.3%, while for girls it was 88.13%.
Rupayan Pal Tops State, 72 Students in Merit List
Rupayan Pal from CMS School, East Burdwan topped the exam with an impressive 497 marks (99.4%).
He is followed by Tushar Debnath from Boxirhat High School, Cooch Behar, who secured 496 marks (99.2%), while Rajarshi Adhikari from Arambagh High School, Hooghly, ranked third with 495 marks (99%).
A total of 72 students featured in the Top 10 merit list, with Hooghly district contributing the highest number — 14 students.
Other High Scorers:
4th Rank: Srijita Goswami, Sonamukhi Girls High School, Bankura – 494 marks (98.8%)
5th Rank: Six students with 493 marks (98.6%)

6th Rank: Eight students scored 492 marks (98.4%), including Raunak Gadai and Arafat Hussain, both from Hooghly.
Stream-Wise Pass Percentage:
Science: 88,022 students passed; pass rate – 99.46%
Commerce: 30,887 students passed; pass rate – 97.52%
Arts: 3,61,010 students passed; pass rate – 88.25%
Transition to Semester-Based Curriculum from 2026
This year marks the final batch under the traditional system. Starting from 2026, the Council will adopt a semester-based examination system.
Semester 3: Scheduled from September 8 to 22, 2025
Semester 4: Scheduled from February 12 to 27, 2026
Marksheet and Certificate Distribution
Distribution of marksheets and certificates will commence from 10 AM on May 8 across 55 designated centres in the state. School representatives are required to collect them on behalf of their institutions.
