WTT Contender Tunisia 2025: Manush Shah and Diya Chitale Win Mixed Doubles Title

New Delhi, April 27 (HS): Indian table tennis players Manush Shah and Diya Chitale clinched the mixed doubles title at the WTT Contender 2025 tournament held in Tunisia on Saturday. In the final, this Indian pair defeated Japan’s Sora Matsushima and Miwa Harimoto in a tough match, winning 3-2.

The Indian duo secured their victory in the final with scores of 11-9, 5-11, 14-12, 3-11, and 11-6. In the semifinals, Manush and Diya advanced to the final by defeating the Tunisian-Egyptian pair of Wasim Essid and Hanaa Godawere in straight games.

Manush, along with Manav Thakkar, made it to the semifinals of the men’s doubles. However, they faced defeat in the semifinals against Germany’s Benedict Duda and Andre Bertelsmeier with scores of 11-8, 7-11, 11-8, 9-11, and 10-12. The Indian duo was once at match point but could not maintain their lead in the decisive game.

In women’s singles, Diya Chitale’s journey ended in the pre-quarterfinals (round of 16), where she was defeated by Germany’s Sabine Winter with scores of 11-8, 6-11, 7-11, and 9-11. Earlier, Diya had caused a sensation by defeating India’s top player Manika Batra in the round of 32. In men’s singles, Harmit Desai also lost in the round of 16, falling to Japan’s sixth-seeded Hiroto Shinozuka with scores of 11-9, 9-11, 8-11, and 1-11.
