Netanyahu Rejects Western Recognition of Palestinian State

Jerusalem, Sept 25 (HS): Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday firmly rejected recent recognitions of a Palestinian state by several Western nations, declaring that such moves would have no bearing on Israel’s position.

“The establishment of a Palestinian state will not arise, and these recognitions do not bind Israel in any way,” Netanyahu’s office said in a statement posted on X.

The remarks came amid a major diplomatic push at the United Nations earlier this week, where dozens of world leaders rallied in support of Palestinian statehood. The initiative, seen as a landmark shift in international consensus nearly two years into the Gaza war, has deepened divides with Israel and its closest ally, the United States, both of which oppose unilateral recognition.

The widening global support for Palestinian sovereignty underscores mounting frustration with the prolonged conflict and the lack of progress in peace talks. However, Israel maintains that statehood can only emerge through direct negotiations, not external declarations.
