Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee has made health and medical fitness screening along with vaccination mandatory for all selected pilgrims of Haj-2026 (1447 Hijri), warning that failure to comply may result in cancellation of Haj travel or denial of entry into Saudi Arabia.
In an official notification, the committee said the decision has been taken in accordance with guidelines issued by the Haj Committee of India and health protocols prescribed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Completion of medical requirements has been declared a prerequisite for both travel and entry.
The committee said medical fitness screening and vaccination camps will be organised across all districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Pilgrims have been instructed to report to designated venues between 10:30 am and 4:00 pm as per the district-wise schedule issued by the authorities.
Pilgrims have also been directed to fully disclose their health status and carry previous medical records, prescriptions and discharge summaries, if any. The notification makes it clear that pilgrims suffering from major organ failure, severe neurological or psychiatric disorders, advanced dementia, or active infectious diseases such as tuberculosis will not be allowed to proceed for Haj.
As part of mandatory immunisation, all selected pilgrims must receive the Meningococcal Meningitis (ACYW) vaccine and the Oral Polio Vaccine, in line with the latest health advisories. Pilgrims have been advised to collect original vaccination certificates from medical authorities and keep them safely, as these documents may be checked by Saudi health officials at ports of entry.
The committee further instructed pilgrims to keep essential documents ready, including passport copies, identity proof and medical reports. It cautioned that failure to meet health and immunisation requirements would invite strict action, including cancellation of travel arrangements.
Meanwhile, a district-wise schedule for medical screening and vaccination camps has been released, covering districts including Srinagar, Budgam, Shopian, Kupwara, Anantnag, Kulgam, Baramulla, Ramban, Kishtwar, Reasi, Kathua, Samba and Poonch. Vaccination schedules for remaining districts, if any, will be notified separately.
Urging pilgrims to strictly adhere to the schedule and instructions, the Haj Committee said compliance with health protocols is essential to ensure a smooth and safe Haj journey.
