
Srinagar– The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday filed a chargesheet against 10 persons, including seven officials of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), for allegedly facilitating illegal and unauthorised construction in Batamaloo here.
The chargesheet in FIR No. 06/2023 was filed before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Srinagar, against seven SMC officers and three private individuals, an ACB spokesperson said.
According to the bureau, the case pertains to the alleged abuse of official position, criminal conspiracy and extension of undue benefits to private beneficiaries in connection with unauthorised construction near Tiny Hearts School in Ward No. 28 of Batamaloo.
The spokesperson said the case was registered after allegations surfaced that officials had conspired with a private beneficiary, identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar of Tengpora, Batamaloo, to facilitate the illegal construction.
The investigation carried out by Police Station ACB Srinagar, based on oral and documentary evidence, substantiated the allegations against the accused officials and private individuals, the spokesperson said.
After obtaining the required government sanction to prosecute the public servants, the chargesheet was submitted before the special court for judicial determination, he added.
