New Delhi, May 19 (HS): President Droupadi Murmu paid floral tributes to the portrait of former President Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy on his birth anniversary at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. The Rashtrapati Bhavan provided this information in a statement.
Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy was the sixth President of India. He served in this position from July 25, 1977, to July 25, 1982. He was born on May 19, 1913, in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. He passed away on June 1, 1996. Reddy began his political career by participating in the freedom struggle at Mahatma Gandhi’s call. He was a skilled administrator and an experienced politician. He also served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, a minister in the central government, and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. He was elected unopposed to the presidency.
